Planes, Trains, and Cars

Today we arrived at the airport around 7:30am and had time to spare. From Minneapolis we flew to Detroit, Michigan, then on to Ottawa, Canada. Our flight to Detroit was uneventful but had a humorous time watching Mr. Johnson catch a quick cat nap (or should i say dog nap).

After our arrival in Ottawa we took a city bus to Rideau Centre and checked into our jail cell at the HI-International Hostel. Yes we said jail cell! Renovations have taken place but a lot of the original building is still present. Here is a picture of Jeff behind bars.
This historic site was where the last public hanging in Ottawa occured in 1972. The jailhouse is open for daily tours and is said to be haunted. Here is a picture of the lobby:

Each cell holds six people and is equipped with three bunks. After we settled into our cell we made a game plan to go shopping at some local shops for some breakfast foods and enjoy some down time. We then returned to our "hotel" to enjoy some freeze dried foods. Tomorrow morning we are looking forward to presenting to a class of seniors at Sir Robert Borden High School.

I knew Cookie would end up in jail! :-) Well, that's 'cause I knew you were all staying at the jail youth hostel. So, how is the ol' haunt? Seen any ghosts? Glad to see you left Craig alone to sleep. He was looking forward to it, I'm sure. Enjoy Ottawa and keep us posted!
